Technology and Authenticity

We've had some discussion about the possible correlation between technology and happiness and/or the authenticity of our lives. The Amish often rank as high as any group in terms of level of happiness. Do you believe the rejection of technology is responsible for this higher level of happiness? Why? (If you do not agree, what do you believe the reason to be?)

Also: Does happiness ultimately equate to authenticity?

I think technology is a balance of hardship and helpfullness. this is because technology breaks and then you miss it and are frustrated and now feel its a nessecity rather than a luxury. So it kind of balances out. As for the amish they have nothing to do but be happy so thats what they do.

I think rejection of technology creates more happiness. Without all the technology in your life you have nothing to worry about because you are living an easy and simple life.

It’s hard to say because each and every one of us uses technology everyday. I think that some of society has let technology replace the actual reality in their lives. How ever using technology is a personal choice. Why keep using something if it’s what making you unhappy? Just because technology has become a necessity doesn't mean you can’t flip the power switch.

Technology is growing everyday. It's crazy how much technollogy people do use each day. All the places I can think of where someone would use technology Icame up with school, work, stores, home, libraries, and even popular hang out spots. I agree with Macey technology is a personal choice. If technology makes you happy then awesome and if it makes you unhappy then don't use technology.
